Google Workspace with multiple domains: what it costs and where the limits are

Google Workspace prices per user, not per domain. Where the limits are when you run several domains, from Google's own pages (checked 14 Oct 2026).

Google Workspace doesn’t list a price per domain. You pay per user ($7 a month for Business Starter on the Annual Plan, $8.40 on the Flexible Plan), and one account can hold up to 600 domains. The limit that matters with several domains is per person: each user gets up to 30 email aliases at no extra cost, and Google’s answer for more is another account, which is another user to pay for. Every Google fact below is from Google’s own pages, checked 14 Oct 2026.

Does Google Workspace charge per domain?

No per-domain charge appears in Google’s billing pages; the price is per user, by edition and payment plan:

EditionAnnual Plan, per user a monthFlexible Plan, per user a month
Business Starter$7$8.40
Business Standard$14$16.80
Business Plus$22$26.40

US dollars, from Google’s billing help page. Business Starter includes 30 GB pooled per user and up to 300 users.

What’s the difference between a secondary domain and a user alias domain?

  • User alias domain: every existing user gets an extra address at another domain. In Google’s example, adding solarmora.com as an alias of example.com gives bob@example.com the address bob@solarmora.com too. Good when one team answers for every brand.
  • Secondary domain: a domain with its own users, accounts and addresses. Good when each brand has its own people.

Both count toward the 600-domain limit (one primary domain plus 599 more), and at most 20 of them can be domain aliases.

How many aliases can each user have?

Up to 30, at no extra cost, and an alias can sit on a secondary domain. Past 30, Google says to create another account and add the aliases there. A worked example: one founder who wants 40 role addresses (hello@, support@, billing@ and the like across several domains) needs 2 accounts, so Business Starter on the Annual Plan comes to $168 a year instead of $84. Google also has groups for shared addresses; their limits aren’t covered here.

What does Google Workspace cost for a team with several domains?

People times the edition price: a team of 4 on Business Starter is $336 a year on the Annual Plan, whether it runs one domain or twenty. Domains only cost more indirectly, when role addresses push someone past 30 aliases. The email cost calculator puts it next to Microsoft 365, Migadu, Purelymail, Proton and SuperMailOS for your own team.

When is Google Workspace the right choice for several domains?

  • Your team lives in Docs, Drive, Meet and Calendar. Then the per-user price buys a suite, and adding domains to one Workspace is straightforward.
  • Each person needs a handful of addresses. 30 aliases per user is plenty for most people.

It fits less well when you need email only, or many role addresses per person. SuperMailOS charges per mailbox ($3–$6 a month) with unlimited free aliases on every domain and every domain’s mail in one inbox. The head-to-head comparison goes row by row.

Questions

Does Google Workspace charge per domain?

Google prices Workspace per user, and its billing pages list no per-domain charge. Business Starter is $7 a user a month on the Annual Plan or $8.40 on the Flexible Plan, and one account can hold up to 600 domains.

How many aliases can a Google Workspace user have?

Up to 30 email aliases per user, at no extra cost, and they can be on a secondary domain. For more, Google says you need another Google account, which on Workspace is another user to pay for.

What's the difference between a secondary domain and a user alias domain?

A user alias domain gives every existing user an extra address at another domain (bob@example.com also gets bob@ at the alias domain). A secondary domain has its own users, with their own addresses and accounts. That's Google's own distinction.

How many domains can one Google Workspace account have?

Up to 600, counting the primary domain, of which at most 20 can be domain aliases, according to Google's multiple-domains FAQ.

When does SuperMailOS cost less than Google Workspace?

For email-only teams. SuperMailOS is $3–$4 a mailbox a month on Pro (up to 3 domains) and $5–$6 on Business (unlimited domains), with unlimited free aliases, against $7–$8.40 a user for Business Starter. If your team uses Docs, Drive and Meet, Workspace buys more than mail.
