Violet

The default. Use it wherever you can.

Ink

For one-colour print, or beside colours violet fights with.

No background

On light surfaces where a filled tile would feel heavy.

White

On photos, dark surfaces and solid violet.

The logo

The mark with the wordmark. Use it where people meet us for the first time.

SuperMailOS

The wordmark

  • Schibsted Grotesk Medium, tracking −1%, always one word in CamelCase: SuperMailOS.
  • Beside the mark, the name is 77% of the mark’s height and sits 38% of it away. The files are already spaced; don’t re-space them.
  • Use the mark on its own where the name is already nearby: an app icon, an avatar, a favicon.

Clear space

Keep a quarter of the mark’s height clear on every side. The same goes for the logo.

¼ × height

Minimum size

The mark holds up from 16 px, so it works as a favicon. The logo needs a mark of at least 20 px, about 120 px wide in all.

02 Colour

Ink and white, violet for what matters.

Most of every screen is ink on white with hairline rules. Violet marks the brand and where you are or what to do next. Click any swatch to copy it.

Brand violet

One violet, plus the tints and shades the site and app already use.

Mark gradient. Only the mark uses it; everywhere else violet is flat.

Domain colours

Each domain gets a colour in the app: its tile, its addresses, its rows. Colours follow the order domains were added, so a new one never repaints the others. The first is always brand violet.

Status

The only other colours in the app, and only for state.

Schibsted Grotesk for headlines, Geist for reading, Geist Mono for labels, addresses and times. All three are free to use.

04 Pixels

One 8×8 grid for every pixel.

Pixels are for moments — a domain’s tile, a queue you’ve cleared, a headline that lands — never wallpaper behind text you need to read.

Domain monograms

The domain’s first letter, lit in its colour on a faint grid of the same colour. The four corners stay off, so the tile reads as rounded.

Icons

Drawn on the same grid, in one colour. They turn violet on hover.

Focus progress

Fills a column at a time as you clear mail, so the end is always in sight.

Every domain you own.
One beautiful inbox.

Block-wipe headline

Words on solid violet blocks that wipe in once, line by line. Save it for a page’s opening line and its closing band.

Pixel landscapes

Dithered hills at the top or bottom of a page, never behind body text. Move your pointer: it’s the light.

05 Product UI

The app, in pieces.

The parts the inbox is made of: ink and white, hairline rules, mono for addresses and times, violet for where you are. The rail and the rows respond to clicks.
