SuperMailOS vs Google Workspace
Pay for people,
not per-user seats.
Google Workspace is the default for good reasons: Gmail’s inbox and the whole office suite. This isn’t here to pretend that gravity away — it’s here to show the alias math and what an email-first, per-mailbox alternative actually trades.
SuperMailOS is hosted business email: we run the mail server, the sending IPs and the deliverability work, so there's nothing to self-host and no server to keep alive.

Google Workspace and SuperMailOS, side by side
An honest, current comparison. Where we’re unsure of a competitor detail we describe what SuperMailOS does rather than assert theirs.
| Feature | Google Workspace | SuperMailOS |
|---|---|---|
| Product model | Full suite: Gmail, Docs, Drive, Meet, Calendar; billed per user | Email-first, per mailbox — every domain converges into one inbox |
| Entry price | From about $6–7/user/mo (as of 2026-09), tiered by storage and suite features | Pro $4/mo per mailbox ($3 annual) · Business $6/mo ($5 annual) |
| Aliases | Aliases/groups exist, but a mailbox a human reads needs a licensed user (≈30 aliases/user) | Unlimited and free, on every domain |
| IMAP & SMTP | Gmail IMAP/SMTP | Every plan (993/465, SSL) |
| Two-factor auth | Supported | TOTP 2FA + session management |
| Managed deliverability | Excellent infrastructure; DKIM setup and DMARC reports are DIY | Managed end to end, with a DMARC dashboard and automatic warm-up |
| Multiple domains | Secondary/alias domains on the workspace; each user still a seat | Every domain, one inbox; Business is unlimited domains |
| Office suite | Docs, Drive, Meet, Calendar | Email only, on purpose |

Where Google Workspace wins
The suite is real
Docs, Drive, Meet and Calendar share one identity. If your team lives there, recreating that stack costs more than the subscription saves.
Gmail's inbox
Years of filtering, search and spam-model polish — and everyone already knows how to use it.
Deliverability by default
Google's sending reputation is about as good as shared infrastructure gets.
Where SuperMailOS wins
Alias economics
On Workspace, a support@ that a human reads means a licensed user. Here, unlimited aliases are free on every domain — you pay for people.
Multi-domain as the product
Agencies and multi-product founders get every domain in one inbox with per-domain authentication and DMARC visibility — not secondary-domain bookkeeping.
Price per human
For email-only needs, $4 a mailbox beats paying for suites nobody on that seat will open.
Deliverability operated
SPF/DKIM/DMARC from the mail server's own zone, DMARC reports parsed into a dashboard, warm-up and IP reputation managed — instead of admin-console archaeology.
What you get with SuperMailOS, on every plan
We run the mail server, so the parts other tools leave to you are simply included:
Deliverability is operated, not DIY
DKIM signs every message; SPF and DMARC are published from the mail server's own zone and verified live before you can send. DMARC reports are parsed into a dashboard, sending-IP reputation and reverse DNS are watched, and new domains warm up automatically.
IMAP & SMTP on every plan
Standard IMAP (993, SSL) and SMTP (465, SSL) with per-mailbox app passwords, so Apple Mail, Outlook, Thunderbird or any client just works — the webmail is optional, not the only door.
A real threaded inbox
Conversations, instant search, labels, drafts, signatures and keyboard shortcuts — across every domain you connect, in one place. Reply as any address on any domain.
Cc and Bcc done properly
Full Cc and Bcc with privacy preserved: a Bcc line is only ever shown to the sender or a recipient who was themselves Bcc'd, and Bcc never affects threading.
Two-factor & session control
TOTP two-factor authentication and session management on your account, so a leaked password alone can't open your mail.
One-click DNS
Publish the records with one click on Cloudflare, DigitalOcean, Linode, Vultr, Hetzner or Spaceship — or copy-paste anywhere else. Provider tokens are used once and never stored.
Dark mode, everywhere
A genuine dark theme across the whole app and marketing site, tuned for contrast — not an inverted screenshot.
Which one fits you
Team embedded in Docs and Meet: stay on Workspace, honestly. Email-heavy operation — many domains, many role addresses, and deliverability that matters to revenue: that’s SuperMailOS territory. Plenty of teams run us for mail and free tools for the rest.
Questions people ask
Via IMAP, yes — SuperMailOS provides standard IMAP/SMTP, so Gmail, Apple Mail or Outlook all work. Your deliverability runs on our managed infrastructure regardless of the client you choose.
