# Connect a mail app (IMAP/SMTP)

Every SuperMailOS mailbox works in the built-in webmail and in any app that speaks standard IMAP and SMTP — Apple Mail, Outlook, Thunderbird, the iOS and Android mail apps, and everything in between. IMAP and SMTP are included on every plan.

## Your settings

Use these in your mail app’s manual setup:

| Setting | Value |
| --- | --- |
| Incoming — IMAP | mail.supermailos.com, port 993, SSL/TLS |
| Outgoing — SMTP | mail.supermailos.com, port 465, SSL/TLS |
| Username | Your full email address |
| Password | An app password (not your login password) |

Both servers use the same host, `mail.supermailos.com`. Connections are always encrypted: IMAP on `993` and SMTP on `465`, both over SSL/TLS. Plain, unencrypted ports are not offered.

## Step by step

1.  **Create an app password.** In SuperMailOS, open *Settings → Security → App passwords* and generate one for the app you’re adding. App passwords keep your main login (and its two-factor code) out of third-party apps.
2.  **Add an account manually.** In your mail app choose *Other* or *IMAP* rather than a named provider, so it asks for servers instead of guessing.
3.  **Incoming server.** IMAP, `mail.supermailos.com`, port `993`, SSL/TLS on.
4.  **Outgoing server.** SMTP, `mail.supermailos.com`, port `465`, SSL/TLS on, authentication on.
5.  **Sign in.** Username is your full email address; password is the app password from step 1.

## Troubleshooting

-   **Login rejected.** Make sure you’re using the app password, not your account login password, and your full address as the username.
-   **App insists on STARTTLS or a plain port.** Choose SSL/TLS. Only `993` (IMAP) and `465` (SMTP) are served, both encrypted.
-   **Nothing sends.** Confirm the outgoing server has authentication enabled — some apps default it off.
